Fiji experienced a significant defeat, losing 9-1 to New Zealand in their third match of the OFC Women’s Futsal Nations Cup held in the Solomon Islands today.
After achieving two strong victories against Tahiti and Tonga, Fiji, under the guidance of coach Jerry Sam, encountered a formidable opponent in New Zealand. They found themselves trailing 5-0 at halftime.
Koleta Likuculacula managed to score Fiji’s only goal in the second half, bringing her total to four goals in three matches.
Fiji will now take a break to recover, while New Zealand prepares to face the host team, Solomon Islands, on Thursday.
