A 38-year-old man from Vidogo Settlement in Vatuwaqa is scheduled to appear in the Magistrates Court in Suva today facing allegations of murder. The incident occurred on New Year’s Eve when the 32-year-old victim, a manager, was partaking in a drinking party with the suspect and six others.
Around 10:00 AM on New Year’s Day, a violent altercation broke out, during which the suspect allegedly assaulted the victim, rendering him motionless on the floor. The suspect then transported the victim to CWM Hospital, where he tragically succumbed to his injuries.
Investigators have gathered statements from the six eyewitnesses who were present during the incident, which have provided crucial information about the events leading to the victim’s death. The suspect is now charged with murder under Section 327 of the Crimes Act of 2009.
