On January 1st, just 44 minutes past midnight, Mereseini Likucokocoko welcomed her baby boy at the Suva Colonial War Memorial Hospital, arriving 11 days earlier than anticipated. The newborn weighed 2.85 kilograms. Despite facing complications and discomfort during labor, Ms. Likucokocoko expressed her heartfelt gratitude toward the midwives and medical team for their support. “It was a surprise; we did not expect him until January 11, but I thank God for this healthy gift,” she remarked, adding that this moment would be cherished by her family.
In Nadi, Akeneta Ranadi, 29, also experienced a delightful surprise, giving birth to a baby girl at Nadi Hospital. Her daughter made her entrance ahead of her expected due date of January 8. “It’s a blessing to give birth on New Year’s Day,” Ms. Ranadi stated, as her newborn weighed 3.78 kilograms. Meanwhile, in Ligau Village on Kia Island, Senimili Duavokavoka was also overjoyed after being rushed to Labasa Hospital on New Year’s Eve. She gave birth to a healthy son named Suliasi Vunibola Turaganivalu at 2 AM on January 1st. He weighed 3.7 kilograms, and she described him as the perfect gift that completed their family. “When I heard his first cry, I felt relief and joy,” Ms. Duavokavoka shared, expressing her gratitude for this new blessing.
