Lydiane Mucunabitu proudly welcomed her daughter, Charlotte Mucunabitu, into the world on January 1 at 12:34 AM, marking her as the first baby born at Lautoka Hospital this year. Baby Charlotte weighed in at a healthy 3.65 kilograms, bringing immense joy to her mother.
Ms. Mucunabitu had been admitted to the hospital but was discharged on New Year’s Eve. She recounted how, after some rest at home, she experienced strong contractions that prompted a swift return to the hospital. A caesarean section was performed to safely deliver her baby.
Describing the procedure, Ms. Mucunabitu praised the medical team for their professionalism, sharing her unique experience of being awake during the C-section while feeling the pressure of the doctors working to bring her baby into the world. The most poignant moment for her was hearing Charlotte’s first cry, as her husband waited just outside the operating room.
