Fijian 7s utility forward Ponipate Loganimasi is poised to make his test debut for the Flying Fijians, stepping in as a replacement for the injured winger Selestino Ravutaumada. Loganimasi, who has delivered strong performances in the international 7s circuit and plays as a winger in 15s rugby, has been called up as an injury cover ahead of the Flying Fijians’ Pacific Nations Cup semifinal against the United States.
National Coach Mick Byrne confirmed the update, stating that Ravutaumada is currently being monitored following shoulder surgery last Monday and will be sidelined for a couple of weeks. Byrne noted that Ravutaumada will begin rehabilitation aimed at a complete recovery before rejoining the Fiji squad for upcoming matches.
The semifinal match is set to take place tomorrow night at 10:05 PM.
