TAU Sports Limited (TSL), a prominent manufacturer of uniforms, sports, and corporate wear, officially inaugurated a new outlet at the MHCC complex in Suva yesterday.
The company’s owner, Awadei Veeriah Gnanarajah, announced that they invested nearly $500,000 into the new location, expressing pride in this achievement. “We had to close three outlets to maintain our business during the COVID-19 pandemic. This reopening signifies our progress towards recovery and our commitment to accessible service for our customers,” Mr. Gnanarajah stated.
In addition to the new outlet, TSL is in discussions to establish another store in Nadi, aimed at catering to western customers and expanding into export markets. “We are planning to open an outlet in Nadi to better serve the western region and to facilitate access for our export opportunities in the future,” he added.
TAU Sports has become a key supplier of sports attire in Fiji, particularly for major events like the annual Sukuna Bowl competitions. “During the Sukuna Bowl, we produced merchandise and sportswear for both the police and army, and post-COVID, we generated over $100,000 annually through this event, for which we are extremely grateful,” Mr. Gnanarajah remarked.
The company is also gearing up for the back-to-school season, offering uniforms for 72 schools across the country. “For those preparing for back-to-school next year, our MHCC outlet is open seven days a week from 9 am to 7 pm,” he stated.
Kamal Chetty, CEO of Investment Fiji, expressed his support during the opening ceremony, highlighting the growth of local businesses like TAU Sports. “This is the type of business that we, and the Government, support in order to promote manufacturing and add value to locally made products. We congratulate them on their success, and I am confident that the community will rally behind them,” he said.
Established in 2010, TAU Sports is a fully local brand owned by Mr. Gnanarajah, specializing in the production of sports garments and customized attire.
The opening of the new outlet not only marks a significant achievement for TAU Sports but also reflects resilience and a positive outlook for local businesses recovering from the pandemic. As communities look towards rebuilding and supporting local enterprises, TAU Sports stands as a hopeful example of innovation and growth in the Fijian market.
In summary, TAU Sports Limited’s new outlet launch embodies both recovery and ambition, providing essential services to the community and contributing positively to the local economy.
