TAU Sports Limited (TSL), a prominent manufacturer of uniforms, sports, and corporate wear, has officially inaugurated a new outlet at the MHCC complex in Suva. The company’s proprietor, Awadei Veeriah Gnanarajah, revealed that the investment for this new location approached $500,000, marking a significant achievement for the business.
Mr. Gnanarajah explained that the company had previously operated three outlets but was forced to close them to ensure financial viability during the COVID-19 pandemic. The reopening of this outlet symbolizes their recovery and commitment to serving customers more conveniently.
Additionally, TSL is exploring the possibility of establishing another outlet in Nadi, targeting western customers and potential exports. “This will not only cater to our local clientele but also help us expand into international markets,” Mr. Gnanarajah stated.
TAU Sports is a key supplier of sports apparel in Fiji, notably during major events such as the annual Sukuna Bowl competitions. According to Mr. Gnanarajah, the company generated over $100,000 annually from the Sukuna Bowl alone, which shows resilience and growth post-COVID-19.
Looking ahead, TSL is gearing up for the upcoming back-to-school sales, offering a wide range of school uniforms across 72 schools nationwide. Their MHCC outlet will be open daily from 9 am to 7 pm to accommodate parents and students preparing for the new school year.
Investment Fiji’s CEO, Kamal Chetty, commended the growth of Tau Sports and emphasized the importance of supporting local businesses that contribute to the manufacturing sector in Fiji. He expressed confidence that the government and local communities will continue to support such enterprises, underlining their value in promoting locally made products.
Founded in 2010, Tau Sports is entirely locally owned and is part of a network of companies owned by Mr. Gnanarajah, specializing in sporting garments and customized outfits.
In summary, the opening of the new outlet signifies not just a milestone for TAU Sports Limited but also reflects the resilience of local businesses in Fiji amidst challenges. The company’s commitment to expanding its reach and supporting local communities bodes well for both its future and the overall local economy.
