New Sponsorship Boosts Women’s Rugby in Ba!

The Ba Rugby Union has entered into a two-year sponsorship agreement with NewWorld IGA, a major local supermarket, to bolster their women’s 15s rugby team in preparation for the upcoming Ranadi Cup scheduled for August. This partnership reflects a commitment to fostering grassroots rugby and enhancing support for women’s sports within the community.

Women’s Rugby Director for Ba, Luse Vula, expressed her gratitude towards NewWorld for stepping up as a sponsor, recognizing the critical lack of financial support for women’s rugby in the region. She noted that the women’s main team has been diligently preparing since joining the Ranadi Cup in 2022, with aspirations to qualify for the Marama Championship. Vula labeled the sponsorship as a significant boost for the team’s goals.

The partnership aligns with recent developments in Ba Rugby, including the appointment of new coaching staff aimed at enhancing performance on the field. With the upcoming Ba Tikina Championship set for June, Vula indicated that the selection of the NewWorld IGA Ba Women’s squad will occur following this event, further emphasizing the growth and competitive spirit within Ba Rugby.

This initiative not only promotes women’s rugby but also signals a broader effort to uplift the sport across the region. The collaboration with NewWorld IGA is a hopeful step toward ensuring better resources and opportunities for female athletes, fostering a stronger rugby community that can inspire the next generation of players.
