The Cabinet has approved changes to the Food Safety Regulation 2009, the Health and Safety at Work (Administration) Regulations 1997, and the creation of the National Fire Service (Fire Safety Compliance Certificate) Regulations 2024.
These amendments and new regulations aim to achieve several key objectives:
– To simplify, clarify, and establish a payment structure for the National Fire Authority (NFA), National Occupational Health and Safety Services (NOHSS), and the Ministry of Health and Medical Services regarding upfront payment collection.
– To allow the acceptance of digitally produced documents for NFA, NOHSS, and the Ministry of Health and Medical Services, including compliance reports, letters, and certificates that may feature electronic signatures.
– To update the current renewal period to a cyclic format.
These regulations align with the Starting a Business Subsystem (SABs), which forms the initial part of the BusinessNOW Fiji Project, designed to consolidate essential e-services from over 16 government agencies into a single digital platform.
