The Cabinet has approved amendments to the Food Safety Regulation 2009 and the Health and Safety at Work (Administration) Regulations 1997, as well as the creation of the National Fire Service (Fire Safety Compliance Certificate) Regulations 2024.
The revised and new regulations aim to achieve several objectives:
– To streamline and clarify the payment structure for the National Fire Authority (NFA), National Occupational Health and Safety Services (NOHSS), and the Ministry of Health and Medical Services concerning upfront payment collections.
– To allow the use of digitally generated outputs, including compliance reports, letters, and certificates with e-signatures, for NFA, NOHSS, and the Ministry of Health and Medical Services.
– To change the current renewal period to a cyclical one.
These regulations support the Starting a Business Subsystem (SABs), which is the first part of the BusinessNOW Fiji Project aimed at integrating relevant e-services from over 16 government agencies into a single digital platform.
