After a week filled with lively activities and dedication to charitable efforts, Vani Dianilawe Tobakarakarawa, a 20-year-old, was crowned the new queen of the Vodafone Sugar Festival 2024.

Originating from Waciwaci, Lakeba in Lau, and with maternal roots in Yalobi, Waya in Yasawa, Vani, who studies law at the University of Fiji, is still absorbing her accomplishment following the announcement on Saturday night.

“Words cannot express my gratitude,” she commented. “The journey has been challenging, yet I have been surrounded by incredible people who supported and guided me and my fellow contestants to reach this point.”

Sponsored by Travel Consultant and Tours, Vani intends to use her title to advocate for religious organizations’ involvement in the fight against illegal drugs.

“Churches have stepped beyond their traditional roles to embrace and support affected youths, offering a safe environment and vital social support,” she stated.

The chief guest of the event, Farheen Saheb, Vodafone’s Chief Financial Officer, emphasized the festival’s commitment to charity.

“Charity for those in need is more than just a theme here; it serves as a reminder of our collective responsibility to lend a hand to those less fortunate and to strive for a more inclusive society,” Ms. Saheb noted.
