After H.E. Ratu Wiliam Katonivere’s withdrawal from the Presidential race, Prime Minister Rabuka has put forward the nomination of Honourable Speaker Ratu Naiqama Lalabalavu Na Gone Turaga Bale na Tui Cakau. Rabuka confirmed that he consulted the Parliamentary Caucus of The People’s Alliance, which has formally endorsed Ratu Naiqama’s nomination for the presidency.
Ratu Naiqama has given his formal consent to be nominated. “As Prime Minister, I will present his name in accordance with section 84(2) of the Constitution during the special session of Parliament on Thursday, October 31, 2024,” Rabuka stated.
He urged all Fijians to support the Coalition Government’s efforts to unite the nation and foster social cohesion, peace, unity, stability, and prosperity.
