After H.E. Ratu Wiliam Katonivere’s withdrawal from the Presidential race, Prime Minister Rabuka has nominated Honourable Speaker Ratu Naiqama Lalabalavu Na Gone Turaga Bale na Tui Cakau for the position. Rabuka indicated that he consulted the Parliamentary Caucus of The People’s Alliance, and Ratu Naiqama’s nomination was formally endorsed by the Caucus.
The Tui Cakau has given his formal consent to be nominated for the Presidency. “As Prime Minister, I will present his name under section 84(2) of the Constitution during the special sitting of Parliament on Thursday, 31st October 2024,” Rabuka stated.
He urged all Fijians to unite with him and the Coalition Government in their efforts to foster social cohesion, peace, unity, stability, and prosperity for the nation.
