Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka announced that the Constitutional Offices Commission (COC) is expected to meet after the parliamentary session to discuss the appointment of a new Police Commissioner. He indicated that he would consult with the Solicitor-General, who serves as the secretariat for the COC, regarding the timing of this meeting.
Rabuka’s comments came in response to inquiries about whether the COC would convene this month. The application period for the Police Commissioner position was anticipated to close recently.
He emphasized that the COC will carefully evaluate all applications submitted for the position. “They will complete the advertisement period and then review the results to ensure a thorough selection process,” he noted. Once the COC has confirmed the appointment, it will be officially announced.
