Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka has stated that the Constitutional Offices Commission (COC) is likely to meet after Parliament adjourns to make a decision regarding the appointment of a new Police Commissioner. He indicated that he would consult with the Solicitor-General, who also serves as the secretariat, suggesting the COC’s meeting will follow the parliamentary proceedings.

This comment came during a recent inquiry about whether the COC would hold a meeting this month. The application period for the Commissioner of Police role was anticipated to close yesterday. Rabuka noted that the commission would complete the application review process and proceed with a thorough selection of candidates.

All applications are set to be assessed by the COC, and once a decision is made, the results will be made public.
