This morning marks the commencement of a new session of Parliament, with the recently appointed Speaker, Filimone Jitoko, presiding over the proceedings.
During today’s session, eight reports are set to be presented, including three significant documents from the Office of the Auditor General. These reports encompass the Annual Report for 2022, an Audit Report on Public Enterprises and Other Entities, as well as an Audit Report on Municipal Councils.
The agenda also includes ten oral questions, with Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Trade, Co-operatives, Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises and Communications, Manoa Kamikamica, expected to address inquiries regarding the progress of Telecom Fiji’s partnership with New Zealand’s Kordia in enhancing Fiji’s digital connectivity.
In addition, Opposition member Premila Kumar has submitted a written question concerning the Councils currently overseen by an Executive Chair, including queries about their salary levels and appointment dates. She further seeks information on the total expenditures associated with Special Administrators and Executive Chairs, encompassing allowances, salary, travel expenses, meals, and accommodation.
