Home Affairs Minister Pio Tikoduadua has suggested the creation of an Oceanic Alliance for the Security of Island States, abbreviated as “OASIS.”
During the opening of the Maritime Security Conference this morning, Tikoduadua stated that this alliance would serve as a formal platform for Pacific Island States to collaboratively tackle various security challenges, including combating transnational organized crime, addressing climate change, and preventing illegal, unreported, and unregulated fishing.
