The National Development Plan (NDP) is set to be launched next Tuesday, with Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka officiating the event. Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance, Biman Prasad, emphasized that this launch marks the beginning of a comprehensive NDP aimed at fostering national unity and a collective vision for social, economic, and political progress.
Prasad stated, “We have the potential to become a wealthy nation in the next 25 to 30 years, but this goal cannot be achieved if we continue with business as usual.” He highlighted the importance of political stability, consistent policy, and a consultative, transparent, and accountable approach to governance.
The Ministry of Finance is leading the initiative, which will build on findings from the Economic Summit, the Fiscal Review Committee report, and the outcomes of the Education Summit. Prasad expressed confidence that the government would leave a lasting legacy of a political culture marked by peaceful, transparent, and accountable transitions between different governing groups.
