The National Development Plan (NDP) is set to be unveiled next Tuesday, with Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka officiating the event. Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Biman Prasad stated that the launch will signal the beginning of a comprehensive NDP aimed at fostering national unity and aligning on a shared vision for social, economic, and political progress.

Mr. Prasad highlighted the country’s potential to achieve significant wealth in the next 25 to 30 years, but emphasized that this goal would require a departure from traditional practices. He stressed the necessity of political stability, consistent policies, and a consultative, transparent, and accountable approach.

The Ministry of Finance is leading the NDP initiative, which will build upon the discussions from the recent Economic Summit, the Fiscal Review Committee report, and the Education Summit outcomes. Mr. Prasad expressed confidence that the Government will create a lasting legacy of political culture and leadership that ensures peaceful transitions between administrations in a transparent and accountable manner.
