The National Development Plan (NDP) is set to be launched next Tuesday, with Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka officiating the event. Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance Biman Prasad emphasized that this launch marks the beginning of an extensive NDP aimed at fostering national unity and creating a collective vision for social, economic, and political progress.
Prasad explained, “Our National Development Plan will be unveiled on Tuesday by the Prime Minister. We have the potential to transform into a prosperous nation within the next 25 to 30 years, but this cannot happen if we persist with our current practices.”
He highlighted the necessity of political stability, consistent policy, and an approach that is consultative, transparent, and accountable. The Ministry of Finance is leading the NDP initiative, which will build upon the outcomes from the Economic Summit, the Fiscal Review Committee report, and the Education Summit results.
Prasad expressed confidence that the government would establish a legacy of political culture and leadership that ensures a peaceful, transparent, and accountable transition of power when there is a change in government.
