The National Development Plan (NDP) is set to be launched next Tuesday, with Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka presiding over the event. Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance Biman Prasad stated that the launch will mark the beginning of a comprehensive NDP aimed at fostering national unity and a collective vision for social, economic, and political progress.
“Our National Development Plan will be unveiled on Tuesday by the Prime Minister,” Mr. Prasad announced. “We have the potential to become a prosperous nation in the next 25 to 30 years, but this cannot happen if we continue with business as usual.”
He emphasized the importance of ensuring political stability, consistent policies, and an approach that is consultative, transparent, and accountable. The Ministry of Finance is leading the NDP initiative, which is expected to build upon the results from the Economic Summit, the Fiscal Review Committee report, and the Education Summit.
“We are confident, as a Government, that we will leave a legacy—regardless of our time in office—that establishes a political culture and leadership that allows for peaceful, transparent, and accountable transitions of power,” Mr. Prasad concluded.
