The National Development Plan (NDP) is set to be launched next Tuesday, with Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka officiating the event. Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance Biman Prasad stated that the launch will mark the beginning of a comprehensive NDP aimed at promoting national unity and a collective vision for social, economic, and political progress.
Prasad emphasized the country’s potential to become affluent within the next 25 to 30 years, but noted that this ambition requires moving beyond conventional approaches. He highlighted the necessity of political stability, consistent policy-making, and a consultative, transparent, and accountable governance model.
The Ministry of Finance is leading the initiative and plans to build upon insights gained from the Economic Summit, the Fiscal Review Committee’s report, and outcomes from the Education Summit.
“We are confident that our Government will leave behind a legacy of a political culture that enables peaceful, transparent, and accountable transitions of power among different groups in the country,” Prasad remarked.
