In the wake of criticism surrounding the former Cabinet Minister Lynda Tabuya’s dismissal, Sashi Kiran, the newly appointed Minister for Women, Children, and Social Protection, remains resolute in her commitment to her role. Kiran was officially sworn in on Friday after Tabuya was dismissed following the circulation of an inappropriate video.

Acknowledging the challenges posed by the former minister’s controversies, Kiran emphasized the necessity of continuing to fulfill the ministry’s responsibilities. She expressed her determination to ensure that the needs of the most vulnerable populations are prioritized despite any distractions. “There is trust; I think where we’re concerned is ensuring that we get the work done,” Kiran stated, highlighting the importance of focus on the ministry’s objectives.

Kiran’s experience in the role is notable, as she has served as the Assistant Minister in the ministry since the Coalition Government was established. She is calling on the support of all Fijians as she steps into her new position, signifying a collaborative approach to addressing the important issues under her purview.

This change in leadership not only continues the ministry’s vital work but also presents an opportunity for renewed commitment and progress in addressing the needs of women, children, and other vulnerable groups in society. With optimism, we can look forward to the positive impact that Minister Kiran will bring to her role.
