Following the dismissal of former Cabinet Minister Lynda Tabuya, new Minister for Women, Children and Social Protection, Sashi Kiran, is determined to maintain her focus and fulfill her responsibilities. Ms. Kiran was sworn in on Friday after Ms. Tabuya’s exit was prompted by a leaked private video that garnered significant media attention.
Acknowledging the challenges posed by this transition, Ms. Kiran emphasized the importance of the ministry’s continued commitment to serving the community, especially those who are most vulnerable. “There is trust; we must ensure that we get the work done,” she stated, calling for unity among all Fijians as she steps into her new role.
Having previously served as the Assistant Minister in the same ministry since the beginning of the Coalition Government, Ms. Kiran brings valuable experience to her position. She is optimistic about the future of the ministry and is focused on its key objectives despite the circumstances surrounding her predecessor.
While the situation is undoubtedly challenging, it presents an opportunity for Ms. Kiran to strengthen the ministry’s focus on its priorities and regain public confidence.
By turning challenges into opportunities, Ms. Kiran aims not only to address the ongoing needs of the community but also to usher in a renewed sense of hope and progress within her ministry.
