Following the recent dismissal of Cabinet Minister Lynda Tabuya, Sashi Kiran has taken on the role of Minister for Women, Children, and Social Protection. Kiran was sworn in on Friday, amidst negative media attention surrounding her predecessor due to a leaked personal video.

Acknowledging the challenges that come with this transition, Minister Kiran emphasized the importance of continuing to serve the community. “There is trust, and we are focused on ensuring that the work gets done,” she stated, highlighting the mission to support the most vulnerable individuals in society.

Kiran, who has previously served as the Assistant Minister in the same ministry since the Coalition Government’s inception, expressed her commitment to fulfilling the ministry’s responsibilities. She also called for the collective support of all Fijians as she embarks on this new journey.

This change in leadership presents an opportunity for renewal and a refreshed focus on the essential services provided by the ministry, ensuring that the needs of women, children, and vulnerable populations remain a priority.

In summary, the new minister aims to bring stability and a continued commitment to public service despite the surrounding controversies, showcasing resilience and determination for the well-being of the community. This transition also opens a door for innovative approaches to the ministry’s mandates, which can lead to positive developments for those they serve.
