New Medical Equipment on the Way for Savusavu Hospital

The Ministry of Health and Medical Services is set to upgrade facilities at Savusavu Hospital with the installation of a new X-ray machine expected in June. This decision follows concerns raised by patients regarding the hospital’s non-functional X-ray machine, which has been out of service for the past two months.

To address immediate needs, the ministry’s biomedical team is replacing the software and is also temporarily deploying a Portable Digital X-ray machine to aid in radiology services. In the meantime, patients in need of X-ray services are being referred to Labasa Hospital or local private providers.

In addition to the issues faced with the X-ray machine, the Haematology Analyzer at the hospital’s Laboratory Unit is also not operational. The ministry is actively working on replacing this equipment, while basic testing continues to be provided.

The ministry reassures the public that they can still seek medical care at Savusavu Hospital, as efforts are underway to restore complete radiology and laboratory services.

This development highlights the ministry’s commitment to improving healthcare accessibility and reliability in the region, ensuring that patients receive the necessary medical services without significant delay. As new technology arrives, the local healthcare system is expected to enhance its capabilities, ultimately benefiting the community’s health and well-being.
