The Cabinet has given the green light for the Nausori Town Council to implement fees and charges for market stall rentals at the newly inaugurated Nakasi Market. This decision was made during a cabinet meeting held in Suva yesterday.
The approval follows previous updates made last September regarding fees for market stalls in Levuka, Rakiraki, and Tavua. Moreover, the Cabinet also sanctioned revisions to the base fees for Public Service Vehicles (PSV), user-pay public facilities, and garbage collection services specifically for the areas of Rakiraki and Tavua.
These changes are set to take effect once the relevant By-laws are officially published in the gazette.
This initiative is a positive step towards enhancing local government revenue and ensuring better services for residents. The establishment of standardized fees can lead to a more structured management of market operations, providing a boost to local economies. By streamlining fees and charges, the council aims to promote fair competition among vendors and improve service delivery to the community.
