The Cabinet has given the green light for new fees and charges associated with market stall rentals at the recently built Nakasi Market, as discussed in a meeting held in Suva yesterday. This decision adds to the previously approved fee updates from September of last year, which pertained to market stalls in Levuka, Rakiraki, and Tavua.

In addition to the stall rental adjustments, the Cabinet also approved modifications to Public Service Vehicle (PSV) base fees, user-pay public conveniences, and garbage collection services specifically for Rakiraki and Tavua. These changes are set to take effect once the relevant By-laws are published in the gazette.

This initiative reflects a commitment to enhancing local market operations and public services, which could lead to improved community facilities and economic growth. It underscores the importance of adapting fees to sustain and enhance essential services in local areas, suggesting a proactive approach by the government in managing municipal resources effectively.
