New Leadership Unveiled: Paula Cirikiyasawa Set to Transform Lands and Mineral Resources

The Public Service Commission, with the approval of Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka, has announced the appointment of Paula Cirikiyasawa as the new Permanent Secretary for Lands and Mineral Resources, effective from September 30, 2024. Cirikiyasawa takes over from Dr. Raijeli Taga, who will transition to a different role after four years of dedicated service in the position.

With more than twenty years of professional experience, Cirikiyasawa has held various senior positions within the Ministry of Commerce, Business Development and Investment, as well as the National Planning Office, prior to joining the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). He has been contributing to global development efforts with UNDP since 2018.

PSC Chairperson Luke Rokovada expressed enthusiasm about Cirikiyasawa’s appointment, highlighting his impressive track record in leadership, innovation, and strategic vision as key qualifications for leading the Ministry of Lands and Mineral Resources. In this role, Cirikiyasawa will focus on the Ministry’s strategic direction, operations, and goals related to innovation, expansion, and sustainability. He is eager to leverage his expertise to foster continued growth and success within the Ministry.

Cirikiyasawa holds a master’s degree in International Relations and Diplomacy, along with a bachelor’s degree in Economics and Political Science. Meanwhile, Dr. Raijeli Taga will continue with the Ministry and will assume her new role in mid-October 2024. Rokovada recognized Dr. Taga’s vital contributions to the Ministry’s accomplishments during her tenure.
