New Leadership Unveiled: Apisai Ketenilagi Takes the Helm at Fiji Roads Authority

Apisai Ketenilagi has been appointed as the new Chief Executive Officer of the Fiji Roads Authority, with his term starting on January 2, 2025, and lasting for three years. This decision was made by the FRA Board in accordance with the Fiji Roads Authority (FRA) Act of 2012.

To ensure a thorough and effective recruitment process, the FRA Board enlisted the assistance of KPMG to identify the most qualified candidate for this critical role. The position was publicly advertised in alignment with FRA’s recruitment policy, and Ketenilagi was selected after a review by a dedicated three-member panel consisting of FRA Board Members.

Ketenilagi brings over three decades of extensive experience in road infrastructure engineering, having made notable contributions to the development and maintenance of highways, rural roads, bridges, marine structures, and construction projects. His academic credentials are commendable, featuring a Master of Science in Highway Management and Engineering, an International Masters in Public Administration, a Bachelor of Engineering, and a Diploma in Civil Engineering. Furthermore, he is a recognized member of various professional engineering organizations in Australia, the UK, the USA, Asia, and Australasia, underscoring his expertise in the field.

FRA Board Chairman Atunaisa Nayago expressed confidence in Ketenilagi’s capabilities, emphasizing that his extensive background in infrastructure development positions him as the ideal leader for the Authority. Nayago stated, “Apisai Ketenilagi brings with him a wealth of experience and expertise to this pivotal role, making him the ideal choice to lead FRA into the future.” He also highlighted the commitment to delivering safe and sustainable infrastructure in Fiji and welcomed Ketenilagi’s leadership in pursuing the Authority’s goals amid an evolving infrastructure landscape.

The Board extended their congratulations to Ketenilagi and looks forward to collaborating closely to achieve significant advancements in the country’s road infrastructure initiatives.
