The Public Service Commission, with the approval of Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka, has appointed Paula Cirikiyasawa as the new Permanent Secretary for Lands and Mineral Resources, effective from September 30, 2024.
Cirikiyasawa replaces Dr. Raijeli Taga, who will transition to a new position after four years of dedicated service in the same role. With over 20 years of professional experience, Cirikiyasawa has held various senior positions in the Ministry of Commerce, Business Development and Investment, and the National Planning Office before joining the UN Development Programme (UNDP). He has been contributing to global development initiatives with the UNDP since 2018.
PSC Chairperson Luke Rokovada expressed excitement about Cirikiyasawa’s appointment, highlighting his strong leadership abilities, innovative approach, and strategic vision as key reasons for his selection to lead the Ministry of Lands and Mineral Resources. In his new role, Cirikiyasawa will focus on overseeing the Ministry’s strategic direction and operations, aiming for innovation, expansion, and sustainability. He is enthusiastic about bringing his expertise to the Ministry and is dedicated to fostering continued growth and success.
Cirikiyasawa holds a master’s degree in International Relations and Diplomacy, along with a bachelor’s degree in Economics and Political Science. Meanwhile, Dr. Raijeli Taga will continue her service within the Ministry of Lands and Mineral Resources and will assume her new role in mid-October 2024. Rokovada noted Taga’s significant contributions and leadership that have led to the Ministry’s achievements during her tenure.
