New Leadership Takes Charge: Meet Fiji’s Roads Authority CEO

Apisai Ketenilagi has been appointed as the new Chief Executive of the Fiji Roads Authority (FRA), starting on January 2, 2025, for a term of three years. This decision was made by the FRA Board in accordance with the Fiji Roads Authority (FRA) Act of 2012.

To find the most qualified candidate for the CEO position, the Board enlisted the services of KPMG as part of their internal procurement process. The recruitment of Ketenilagi was carried out in adherence to FRA’s policies, and he was selected by a panel of three FRA Board members during the interview process.

Ketenilagi boasts over 30 years of experience in road infrastructure engineering, significantly contributing to projects involving highways, rural roads, bridges, marine structures, construction, and asset maintenance. His impressive qualifications include a Master of Science in Highway Management and Engineering, an International Masters in Public Administration, a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, and a Diploma in Civil Engineering. Additionally, he holds memberships in esteemed professional engineering institutes across Australia, the UK, the USA, Asia, and Australasia.

FRA Board Chairman Atunaisa Nayago expressed optimism about Ketenilagi’s appointment, stating that he brings a remarkable depth of experience that positions him as an ideal leader for FRA. Nayago highlighted the Board’s confidence in Ketenilagi’s capability to enhance the FRA’s performance and fulfill its commitment to ensuring safe and sustainable infrastructure for Fiji. The Board looks forward to Ketenilagi’s leadership in tackling the evolving challenges faced by the infrastructure sector.

The Board offered their heartfelt congratulations to Ketenilagi and eagerly anticipates achieving new milestones under his stewardship.
