New Leadership Takes Charge at Fiji Medical Association

The Fiji Medical Association (FMA) has chosen Dr. Alipate Vakamocea as its new President. The election for the FMA’s Officer Bearers for the term 2024-2026 occurred during the Annual General Meeting on Saturday, September 14, at the Hilton Fiji Beach Resort & Spa.

Dr. Ronald Kumar steps in as the new Vice President, while Dr. Miriama Tukana and Dr. Ahmed Shakeel Shariff take on the roles of Secretary and Treasurer, respectively. Former President Dr. Basharat Munshi, along with Dr. William May, Dr. Sailosi Ratumaitavuki, Dr. Myrielle Allen, Dr. Pritisheel Kirti, and Dr. Sudiksha Singh, were elected as members of the new executive council.

The Fiji Medical Association has extended its congratulations to the newly elected officers and looks forward to their leadership in promoting the interests of the medical community and advancing healthcare excellence in Fiji. The Association remains dedicated to advocating for medical professionals’ welfare, bolstering the healthcare system, and improving public health outcomes nationwide. The newly elected team will hold office for a two-year term and is committed to continuing the legacy of excellence and service that the Association has maintained for over sixty years.
