Fiji has welcomed its newest Cabinet Minister, Hon. Sashi Kiran, who officially took her oath today as the Minister for Women, Children, and Social Protection. The swearing-in ceremony was conducted by His Excellency the President, Turaga Bale Tui Cakau, Ratu Naiqama Lalabalavu, at the State House.
Kiran takes over the position from Lynda Tabuya, having previously served as her Assistant Minister. With a rich background in social work, Kiran is the founder of FRIEND Fiji (the Foundation for Rural Integrated Enterprises and Development) based in Lautoka, showcasing her commitment to community upliftment and social welfare.
The ceremony was also graced by the presence of Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka and Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance, Biman Prasad, highlighting the significance of this transition in leadership for social protection in Fiji.
