Ratu Josefa Dimuri has been elected as the new senior vice president of the People’s Alliance, and he has committed to fulfilling his responsibilities effectively. He was elected unopposed during the party’s General Assembly held in Lautoka last week, succeeding Ro Naulu Mataitini, who is currently in the United States.

Ratu Josefa acknowledged the challenge of stepping into this prominent role, particularly as he follows in the footsteps of the Vunivalu of Nukunitabua of Lomanikoro, Rewa. He expressed his determination to adapt over time and promised to serve the party diligently, supported by his faith in God.

He mentioned his surprise that no other candidates emerged to contest the position, stating that if he had known someone was interested, he would have considered withdrawing his candidacy. Ratu Josefa recognized the wealth of talent within the party and highlighted the value that experienced individuals could bring to leadership roles.

He emphasized the party’s commitment to improvement in all areas and expressed gratitude for the trust placed in him by his nominators. Additionally, he fully supported the call made by the head of the women’s wing for greater female representation in the party, mentioning the potential for women to hold significant leadership positions soon.
