New Leadership: Paula Cirikiyasawa Steps In as Permanent Secretary for Lands and Mineral Resources

The Public Service Commission, in agreement with the Prime Minister, has appointed Mr. Paula Cirikiyasawa as the new Permanent Secretary for Lands and Mineral Resources, effective September 30, 2024.

Cirikiyasawa takes over from Dr. Raijeli Taga, who is transitioning to a new role after four years of committed service in the same position.

With over 20 years of professional experience, Cirikiyasawa has held various senior roles in the Ministry of Commerce, Business Development and Investment, as well as in the National Planning Office, before joining the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in 2018, where he has actively contributed to global development initiatives.

Chairman of the Commission, Luke Rokovada, expressed enthusiasm about Cirikiyasawa’s appointment, highlighting his strong leadership, innovative mindset, and strategic vision as key qualities that will benefit the Ministry of Lands and Mineral Resources.

As Permanent Secretary, Cirikiyasawa will oversee the Ministry’s strategic direction and operations, focusing on innovation, expansion, and sustainability. He looks forward to applying his expertise to facilitate ongoing growth and success within the Ministry.

Cirikiyasawa holds a Master’s degree in International Relations and Diplomacy, along with a Bachelor’s degree in Economics and Political Science.

Meanwhile, Dr. Raijeli Taga will continue with the Ministry and assume her new role in mid-October 2024. Chairman Rokovada noted her significant contributions to the Ministry’s success, leading it to noteworthy achievements during her tenure.
