The Acting Commissioner of Police, Juki Fong Chew, has expressed his support for Rusiate Tudravu, the newly appointed Commissioner of Police (COMPOL). Mr. Chew commended Mr. Tudravu’s extensive experience, particularly his interim role as acting COMPOL and his external assessment of the police force.

“He brings a fresh perspective to the role,” stated Mr. Chew. He has requested that police officers show the same support to Mr. Tudravu that they have shown him during his two-year term, emphasizing the importance of teamwork.

As Mr. Chew’s tenure approaches its conclusion, he reflected on the challenges faced by both the police department and the Coalition government. He noted, “We’ve done our best with the resources available, always aiming to serve the people of Fiji.”

During a recent ceremony honoring over 300 officers, both retired and active, Mr. Chew encouraged continued support for the incoming commissioner. He awarded medals of honor to each officer for their dedicated service to the Force and the nation.

“Stay focused on our mission and do not let minor issues or negativity distract you,” he urged. “Our priority must be delivering service to the populace, rather than internal distractions.”

Responding to inquiries, Mr. Tudravu acknowledged Mr. Chew’s leadership and said, “I intend to keep a low profile for now and will make a statement when the time is right.” He is set to officially begin his duties next month, while Mr. Chew will return to his position as Deputy Police Commissioner and take some leave this week.
