Ratu Josefa Dimuri has committed to fulfilling his responsibilities as the newly elected senior vice president of the People’s Alliance. He was elected unopposed during the party’s General Assembly held in Lautoka last week, succeeding Rewa chief Ro Naulu Mataitini, who is currently in the United States.

Ratu Josefa acknowledged the difficulty of stepping into this role, particularly following the leadership of the Vunivalu of Nukunitabua of Lomanikoro, Rewa. He expressed his determination to grow into the position and serve effectively. “With God’s help, I will do justice to the job that I have been entrusted with and elevate the party at all times,” he remarked.

He expressed surprise that no other candidates emerged for the position, stating that he would have withdrawn his candidacy if someone else had stepped forward. Ratu Josefa noted the wealth of talent present within the party and emphasized that expanding leadership participation would enhance its operations.

He also underlined his respect for the trust placed in him by the two divisions that nominated him and voiced his strong support for increasing women’s involvement in leadership roles. He echoed sentiments from the women’s wing about the importance of seeing more women in significant positions, anticipating that they will soon hold crucial roles within the party.
