The Ministry of Lands and Mineral Resources has appointed Paula Cirikiyasawa as its new permanent secretary. Cirikiyasawa brings with him two decades of experience in the civil service and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). He takes over from Dr. Raijeli Taga, who has transitioned to a different role after serving four years in the position.
Chairman of the Public Service Commission, Luke Rokovada, expressed confidence in Cirikiyasawa’s leadership abilities, innovation, and strategic vision, which he believes make him the perfect fit for this role. Prior to this appointment, Cirikiyasawa held various senior positions within the Ministry of Commerce, Business Development and Investment, and the National Planning Office, before joining the UNDP in 2018 to contribute to global development efforts.
Rokovada welcomed Paula Cirikiyasawa as the new permanent secretary, emphasizing the excitement surrounding his appointment. In his new capacity, Cirikiyasawa will oversee the ministry’s strategic direction and operations, prioritizing innovation, expansion, and sustainability. He is eager to apply his experience to foster continued growth and success for the ministry.
Additionally, Dr. Taga is scheduled to assume her new responsibilities next month, having played a significant role in the ministry’s accomplishments during her tenure.
