The Public Service Commission, with the Prime Minister’s approval, has appointed Mr. Paula Cirikiyasawa as the new Permanent Secretary for Lands and Mineral Resources, starting from September 30, 2024.
Cirikiyasawa takes over from Dr. Raijeli Taga, who will transition to a new role after serving four years in the position.
With over 20 years of professional experience, Cirikiyasawa has previously held senior positions in the Ministry of Commerce, Business Development and Investment, and the National Planning Office before joining UNDP in 2018, where he has contributed to various global development projects.
Chairman of the Commission, Luke Rokovada, expressed enthusiasm in welcoming Cirikiyasawa, highlighting his strong leadership skills, innovative mindset, and strategic vision as qualities that make him well-suited for this role.
In his position as Permanent Secretary, Cirikiyasawa will oversee the Ministry’s strategic direction and operations, emphasizing innovation, growth, and sustainability. He is eager to utilize his expertise to foster ongoing development and success within the Ministry.
Cirikiyasawa holds a Master’s degree in International Relations & Diplomacy and a Bachelor’s degree in Economics & Political Science.
Dr. Raijeli Taga will remain with the Ministry, taking on her new role in mid-October 2024. Chairman Rokovada noted her significant contributions to the Ministry’s achievements during her tenure.
