New Leadership in Lands and Mineral Resources: Meet Paula Cirikiyasawa!

The Public Service Commission, in collaboration with Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka, has announced the appointment of Paula Cirikiyasawa as the new Permanent Secretary for Lands and Mineral Resources, effective September 30, 2024.

Cirikiyasawa takes over from Dr. Raijeli Taga, who will transition to a new position after four years of dedicated service in the role. With over 20 years of professional experience, Cirikiyasawa has held various senior roles within the Ministry of Commerce, Business Development and Investment, as well as the National Planning Office, prior to joining the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in 2018, where he has contributed to global development initiatives.

Chairperson of the PSC, Luke Rokovada, expressed enthusiasm for Cirikiyasawa’s appointment, highlighting his proven leadership, innovative approach, and strategic vision as key attributes for leading the Ministry of Lands and Mineral Resources. As Permanent Secretary, Cirikiyasawa will oversee the Ministry’s strategic direction and operations, prioritizing innovation, growth, and sustainability.

Cirikiyasawa, who holds a master’s degree in International Relations & Diplomacy and a bachelor’s degree in Economics & Political Science, is eager to apply his expertise to the Ministry and is committed to fostering continued growth and success. Meanwhile, Dr. Raijeli Taga will still be with the Ministry and will assume her new role in mid-October 2024. Rokovada noted that Dr. Taga played a crucial role in the Ministry’s achievements during her tenure.
