The Public Service Commission (PSC) has announced the appointments of Amenatave Yauvoli and Jone Navakamocea as permanent secretaries, effective from June 10, following the agreement of Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka. Yauvoli will assume the role of Permanent Secretary for Civil Service and Public Enterprises, while Navakamocea will take charge of iTaukei Affairs, Culture, Heritage, and Arts.
PSC Chairman Luke Rokovada indicated that both appointees had previously acted in their respective roles and demonstrated exceptional performance during the selection process. “The changes are part of our ongoing efforts to ensure that leadership in key ministries is strong, stable, and results-driven,” added Rokovada.
These appointments come after the reassignment of former permanent secretaries Parmesh Chand and Pita Tagicakirewa, who will now be assigned special duties within the civil service. This restructuring underscores the PSC’s commitment to enhancing government performance and improving public service delivery.
Previously, Yauvoli served as Fiji’s Ambassador to Indonesia and has held significant positions in various public sectors, providing him with a wealth of experience. Navakamocea’s appointment arrives at a vital time for iTaukei affairs, signaling a commitment to cultural heritage and community engagement.
With these leadership changes, there is a positive outlook for the future, as the government continues to strive for effective governance, leveraging local talent to foster development and growth in Fiji’s civil service.
