Timoci Duve has officially been appointed as the Head Coach for the Kaiviti Silktails in the New South Wales Rugby League’s 2025 Jersey Flegg Cup season. Duve, who has been serving as caretaker coach since June, takes over from former coach and Fiji Bati player Wes Naiqama, who recently stepped down after a successful four-year tenure.
Joining Duve on the coaching staff is Rusiate Ratukana, a former strength and conditioning coach and captain of the Fiji Residents rugby Sevens team at the South Pacific Games. Ratukana will serve as the assistant coach for the Silktails. Both coaches will receive guidance from technical advisor Joe Saukuru, who will act as a coaching liaison between the Silktails and their new feeder club, Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs.
This new leadership structure brings a wealth of experience and a strong connection to the sport, which bodes well for the team’s future. The collaboration with the Bulldogs is expected to enhance player development and strengthen the team’s competitive edge in upcoming seasons.
In summary, the appointment of Timoci Duve marks a new chapter for the Kaiviti Silktails, with the coaching team poised to forge a robust path forward as they aim to excel in the Jersey Flegg Cup. The fresh start presents an optimistic outlook for both the team and its supporters.
