Timoci Duve has been appointed as the head coach of the Kaiviti Silktails for the upcoming 2025 Jersey Flegg Cup season in the New South Wales Rugby League. Duve has been serving as a caretaker for the Silktails since June, following the departure of former coach Wes Naiqama, who stepped down after a four-year tenure.
Joining Duve on the coaching staff is Rusiate Ratukana, who returns as the assistant coach. Ratukana previously served as the strength and conditioning coach and also captained the Fiji Residents rugby Sevens team at the South Pacific Games. The coaching team will receive guidance from technical advisor Joe Saukuru, who will facilitate communication between the Silktails and their new feeder club, the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs.
This transition in coaching leadership offers an exciting opportunity for the Kaiviti Silktails as they look to build on their past experiences and strengthen their performance in upcoming competitions. The collaboration with Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs may further enhance player development and strategic execution, leading to a promising season ahead.
Overall, the appointment of Duve and the support from Ratukana and Saukuru signify a commitment to fostering local talent and enhancing the team’s competitive edge in the rugby league landscape.
