New Leadership for Fiji Roads Authority: Meet Apisai Ketenilagi

Apisai Ketenilagi has been appointed as the new Chief Executive of the Fiji Roads Authority (FRA), with his term commencing on January 2, 2025, and lasting for three years. This appointment was made by the FRA Board following the protocols set out in the Fiji Roads Authority Act of 2012.

To ensure the selection of the most qualified candidate, the Board utilized its Procurement Department to engage KPMG in the recruitment process. The CEO position was advertised in accordance with FRA’s recruitment policies, and the final candidate was chosen through the evaluation of a three-member interview panel comprised of FRA Board members.

Ketenilagi comes to this role with over three decades of experience in road infrastructure engineering, having made notable contributions in various areas such as highways, rural roads, bridges, marine structures, and asset maintenance. His impressive qualifications include a Master of Science in Highway Management and Engineering, an International Masters in Public Administration, a Bachelor of Engineering, and a Diploma in Civil Engineering. Additionally, he is a member of several reputable professional engineering institutes across Australia, the UK, the USA, Asia, and Australasia.

FRA Board Chairman Atunaisa Nayago expressed confidence in Ketenilagi’s ability to enhance the FRA’s performance, stating, “He brings with him a wealth of experience and expertise to this pivotal role, making him the ideal choice to lead FRA into the future.” Nayago emphasized the Board’s expectations for Ketenilagi to facilitate the agency’s goals and tackle the challenges presented by an evolving infrastructure landscape. The Board has extended its heartfelt congratulations and looks forward to collaborating with Ketenilagi to achieve remarkable milestones for Fiji.
