In her new role, Namudu will oversee the Beqa-Yanuca Seascape (BYS) initiative, which aims to unite ten Fijian communities along with tourism operators and various stakeholders to foster sustainable management and conservation of the marine, coastal, and terrestrial ecosystems of the Beqa Lagoon. The success of this initiative is vital for enhancing local stewardship of natural resources and encouraging collaborative support among community members and partners.

Dr. David Kline, Executive Director of the Pacific Blue Foundation, highlighted the importance of Namudu’s leadership in achieving the foundation’s mission. Her extensive network is expected to play a crucial role in driving impactful projects that benefit Fiji’s communities. Namudu herself conveyed her enthusiasm for the challenge ahead, reaffirming her commitment to empowering local populations through development strategies that are responsive to their socio-economic and environmental contexts.

This appointment marks a hopeful step forward in strengthening cooperation for effective resource management and conservation in Fiji, paving the way for a more sustainable future for both its communities and natural environments.
