New Leadership Boosts Fiji’s Telecommunications Future

Prit Chand has been named the new chief executive of the Telecommunications Authority of Fiji, effective August 5. His appointment is seen as a significant advancement for the organization.

Chand brings nearly 21 years of experience in the telecommunications field and has held various leadership positions, where he has focused on driving innovation and strategic growth within the local market. His comprehensive knowledge in network planning, projects, and strategic development is expected to be crucial in furthering TAF’s goal of improving connectivity and promoting digital inclusion throughout Fiji.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Trade Manoa Kamikamica has commended the TAF Board for successfully selecting Chand as the new CEO. Prior to this role, Chand served as the Manager of Planning, Projects & Strategy at Telecom Fiji Pte Ltd.

In his new position, Chand will manage all facets of TAF’s operations, encompassing regulatory oversight, the review and development of regulatory policies, and engaging with stakeholders. He will also lead initiatives that aim to enhance universal service access, elevate service quality, and encourage innovation within the telecommunications industry.
