New Leadership at the Ministry of Lands: Meet Paula Cirikiyasawa

The Ministry of Lands and Mineral Resources has appointed Paula Cirikiyasawa as its new permanent secretary. Cirikiyasawa brings two decades of experience in civil service and the UNDP, succeeding Dr. Raijeli Taga, who has transitioned to a new role after four years in the position.

Luke Rokovada, chairman of the Public Service Commission, praised Cirikiyasawa’s extensive leadership experience, innovative mindset, and strategic vision, declaring him the perfect fit for the role. Before his new appointment, Cirikiyasawa held various senior positions at the Ministry of Commerce, Business Development and Investment, and the National Planning Office, before joining the UNDP in 2018 to contribute to global development initiatives.

Rokovada expressed enthusiasm over Cirikiyasawa’s appointment, highlighting the commission’s confidence in his ability to lead the ministry. In his capacity as permanent secretary, Cirikiyasawa will focus on enhancing the ministry’s strategic direction and operations, emphasizing innovation, growth, and sustainability.

Dr. Taga is set to assume her new role next month, with Rokovada noting her significant contributions to the ministry’s achievements during her tenure.
