The Ministry of Lands and Mineral Resources has appointed Paula Cirikiyasawa as the new permanent secretary, bringing with him 20 years of experience in civil service and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). He takes over from Dr. Raijeli Taga, who will transition to a new role after serving four years in this position.
Public Service Commission chairman Luke Rokovada praised Cirikiyasawa’s leadership, innovation, and strategic vision, stating these qualities make him an ideal candidate for the role. Cirikiyasawa previously held various senior positions in the Ministry of Commerce, Business Development and Investment, and the National Planning Office before joining the UNDP in 2018, where he applied his skills to support global development initiatives.
Rokovada expressed enthusiasm about welcoming Cirikiyasawa into his new role, highlighting his responsibility for overseeing the ministry’s strategic direction and operations, emphasizing innovation, growth, and sustainability. Cirikiyasawa is eager to apply his expertise to foster continued progress and success within the ministry.
Dr. Taga is set to begin her new position next month, and Rokovada acknowledged her significant contributions to the ministry’s achievements during her tenure.
