The Ministry of Lands and Mineral Resources has appointed Paula Cirikiyasawa as its new permanent secretary. Cirikiyasawa brings two decades of experience in civil service and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) to the role. He takes over from Dr. Raijeli Taga, who will transition to a new position after serving four years in this capacity.
Chairman of the Public Service Commission, Luke Rokovada, highlighted Cirikiyasawa’s strong leadership, innovative approach, and strategic vision, which make him highly suitable for the role. Prior to this appointment, Cirikiyasawa held various senior positions within the Ministry of Commerce, Business Development and Investment, and the National Planning Office before joining the UNDP in 2018, where he utilized his expertise to support global development initiatives.
Rokovada expressed enthusiasm about Cirikiyasawa’s appointment, stating, “The commission is thrilled to welcome Paula Cirikiyasawa as the latest appointee as permanent secretary.” In his new role, Cirikiyasawa will focus on guiding the ministry’s strategic direction and operations with an emphasis on innovation, growth, and sustainability. He is eager to apply his knowledge to foster continued development and success within the ministry.
Dr. Taga is set to assume her new role next month, with Rokovada noting her significant contributions to the ministry’s achievements during her tenure.
